Re message 65 from Gerald Risby, thanks Gerald for the memory of 1d Arrowroot Biscuits, sold from a jar on the counter. My Parents, Jack and Bess Graisgour moved into the Aldborough Stores Off Licence in 1955 and were there until 1965. The off licence was part of the 'Tollymarche Cobbold' brewery organisation but neither my Parents nor I can remember the name 'Alsop'. Perhaps this was there before we arrived? The Aldborough Stores was always an off licence in those days, although in recent times it has become a general store and is not under the brewery umbrella. The windows, which used to be professionally dressed, are now part of the shop and it all looks very different! Although it might seem from the memories that only items costing a penny (crisps & arrowroot biscuits) were sold, I hasten to say that the drinks cost a lot more!

I have read with much interest the stories about the famous 1penny crisps at the Aldborough stores and liked the picture from the sixties. However from my memory in the fifties it was an Off Licence where we used to purchase the famous 1penny "arrowroot biscuits" from a large jar on the counter. Does anyone remember the window display showing a very large glass jar with the name "Tolly Cobold and Alsop" as the brewers. We used to change when repeating the name Alsop to "Allslop".

I would love to hear from anybody who remembers me. I still keep in contact with Frank Mooney. Although I have lived in Australia for more than 55 years I still remember everyones name on my old class photo. Things must be very different over there now. I remember my class having to carry gas masks at all times. My teacher was Miss Honey and the Principle was Mr Train. Our class was 3C. Is there anyone who remembers me?

My Dear Peter... do you believe in small miracles? Today, I received an email link from my sister. She found an archive of our 1962 class photo and forwarded me the link to the WT web page. I was looking through the photo with tears in my eyes... remembering those wonderful days FORTY YEARS AGO. I was rambling the names in the photo to my wife, and said, "and there is Peter Clarkson, we were good buddies". After looking at the photo, I checked the message board.... I was in disbelief!!! I had only just mentioned your name, and there was a posting from you (as recent as Feb.), and your mention of memories of me. After 40 years, this is incredible. I have many good memories of our friendship... most lunch times, going to the back of your house at the end of the school field, and your mum giving us cold R Whites lemonade... Pink Floyd albums, toy soldiers and Airfix planes, newts and frogs... Tony Cheeseman, David White, Trevor Goodman...(not to mention Margaret Hammond ;>) so many great memories. I left the UK when I was 23. Moved to Hawaii for several years, and now live in San Francisco. Got married at 40, and have a beautiful 5 year old girl. Am now 48, and as sense my mortality, often I think back to those precious years and wonder how you all are. I come back to visit every year. It would be wonderful if you see this message and respond to me. email me at mel@sfx-resorts.com Fondest regards... Mel Grant

I left Torbitts in 1980 and would love to hear if anyone knows what ever happened to pupils "John Rogers" and "Paul Middleton" as their names do not appear on F.R. Would also love to know what happened to Mrs Palmer (my first teacher in infant school).

What a great site. I found myself and classmates in the photo of 1962. I have the orchestra photo and the Elizabethan play photo, plus Tim Oakley and I doing the "Man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo. Anyone want to remember me?
