Found this marvellous website through Brenda Graisgour - nice to put names to faces on the old photos. Does anyone remember my Mum Mrs Greenhow who was a dinner lady from 1945-49, then 1955-70. She is now 91 years old and still going strong! Am in regular contact with Elaine Sexton who lives in Sussex - will give her details of this website. I am living in surfers' paradise now - Newquay in Cornwall, and would love to hear from amyone who remembers me.

I often remember my time at WT as the best of all my years of education (& there was plenty of them). Often wonder what happened to the following pupils in my class. Can anyone help? Mark Turner, Robert Bookman, Gary Murphy, Bobby Colman, Denise Silver, Daniel Bussey, the list goes on and on…..

Subject: Mr Cowan

Does anyone know what happened to Mr Cowan the HT? I remember we held him in complete awe and were terrified when he entered the classroom (as were, I suspect, the teachers).
Anyone remember his book with the Good Page and the Bad Page and how mortified we were if we didn't make the Good Page?

Subject: DAVID KAYLER / BARRY & CAROLE TYZACK

Having looked, with great interest, through every photo on this site I see that several include David Kayler. David and I lived a couple of doors away from each other in Brian Road, Chadwell Heath and became inseparable friends as we grew up together. David was sent to board at Chigwell school and at the age of 17 became a trainee surveyor with Quirk & Ptnrs in Billericay, whilst still living in Brian Road. Tragically, whilst we were out together one evening in 1965, David was killed in a car accident in Chigwell. It gave me great pleasure to find his photo's on this web site. I would also love to make contact with some of my old friends from those days including: Mavis Rampling, John Stone, Roderick Sewell, Anthony Ely, Derek Bird, Christina Fraser, Trevor Hill, Roger Krout, Derek Wheddon and any more of my old classmates.
I have some class photos which I will be submitting in due course together with the programme from the 1958 school play. Incidentally, I am 6th. from Left in pic. ref. 55002 submitted by Sandra Blackmun. If anyone remembers my sister Carole (she was 4 years ahead of me) or my brother Barry (2 years ahead of me) I would be pleased to put you in touch. Carole went on to Wanstead County High and is married to an Italian and now lives in Italy (Carole Cattelino)She has 4 grown up sons. Barry is also very happily married and lives in Lymm in Cheshire and has 2 lovely grown up daughters and 2 grand children.

I have phoned Miss Billington and she said she remembered me but I rather suspect she was being polite!. She said she will be 91 in July and is fairly disabled following a car accident about 6 years ago (she was driving!). Incidentally, Miss Billington told me that Miss Peacock is now in a residential home at Box near Bath and they phone each other every week. I also remember Miss Ball - just by walking into the room she could have the whole class quivering wrecks. Apparently she moved to the West country with Miss Billington but died about 8 years after they moved following a fall.

Re Message 69 from Paul Keily: The headteacher is Mrs June Hill. She has been there for a few years now. Also the school is now William Torbitt Primary School, as the infant school and the junior school merged a couple fo years ago. Previous head of infants school was Mrs Richards, and the last head of the junior school was Mrs Sears before it disbanded. The longest serving teachers are Mrs Julie Kay (now teaching Year 3) and Mrs Teresa Stevens (who has been deputy head teacher for a long time), and probably Mrs Jo Dignon as she was there when I was in the infants. Also the long-serving head of the nursery dept left last year (Mrs Jackie Sterling) after a long time at the school, having also been one of my teachers when I was just 4 years old. Erm... the other deputy head teacher is Mrs Martin. That's about all I can think of in terms of teachers.
