ist year juniors Mrs Mortimers class, going to see Arsenal at Wembley instead of going to the Science Museum,Mr Rowe 2nd year reading Paddington stories, 3rd year I think the teachers name was Miss Wetton? (not sure now but a nice teacher)spelling test on the grass outside the outside classrooms, and Mr Eagland Maths in the morning as this was the best time to learn and war stories. Also the odd smack here and there!! and I think Mrs Mortimer used to threaten us with putting glue on our seats so we would stay put!!!!!! Great web site bring back fond memories

I remember Mr Eagland on my first day saying he had taught my brother, in fact it was my father! Memories! Being told off for licking a red Smartie and painting it on our lips so we looked like we were wearing some very sophisticated red lipstick. The long, long corridors, which you wanted to run along, missing all the coat pegs. The school dinner huts (pre fabs I think) and the school mashed potato, the lumps getting stuck in the back of my throat. I want to come and visit the school

I believe that for some unknown reason in the final three years of my time at Torbitt class photos were axed. This would explain the complete lack of any from the years 1971 - 1973 on the picture board - I can only assume it had something to do with policy of the new Headmaster, Mr Windle. Shame, as I had a teacher named Mr Jeremy Rowe in my 4th year. He was an absolute character and a superb teacher to end up with. Here are some of the things Mr Rowe did with us that stick in the mind forever. - The 'Opera' musical with new lyrics added to well known tunes such as Griegs piano concerto and best of all the wonderful song with the lyrics "the slippered feet of mama she kept coming into view".... Sandra Osbourne and Stephen Willbourne sang solos. - Reading us 'The Silver Sword' by Ian Serrailer. - The projects especially 'The Sea'. - Baking bread in class - a real novelty. - School trip to Dunton TV studios. - Paths of movements - his description of his wifes movements in Sainsbury's live on ! - Playing us Simon & Garfunkels Greatest hits in class on the pretext that we were learning to sing 'Feeling groovy'. - He wrote 'What is past is prologue' in my autograph book; I've sadly mislaid the book but I will never forget the epitaph. - He kept on about 'Elton John boots' !!! I think Jeremy moved on from Torbitt soon after I left so I guess there are no class photos with him in and more's the pity. Many thanks Jeremy.

Nisha - I've never heard of any such ghost tale or graveyard and think your friend is just trying to frighten you.

My friend jenna told me that on this website there is information on something. A long time ago there was a graveyard and now if you go into the school at a disco or in the evening and you say bad words dead people come and if you walk with them you die instantly.
