Personal Notes: After leaving William Torbitt, attended Raine’s Foundation Grammar in Stepney. Left there in 1964 and started work at the London Headquarters of British Aluminium Co. where I met my wife. Married 1969, divorced 1982-no children. Moved to Tilbury 1970.
Continued commercial studies at evening classes, day release and block release at various colleges leading to Diploma in Purchasing Management-elected member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply 1978.
Succession of short term jobs in heavy engineering, process plant, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals-mainly contract work of two to three years duration. Engaged mainly in procurement but taking in quality management, inspection, claims assessment and accounting.
Developed interest in computing as search medium for former pupils before and since the 1998 Torbitt reunion and now finding them invaluable for my ongoing genealogical studies. My brother, Raymond, attended Torbitt before me - in our school days we lived in Leyswood Drive. I was a member of the local Life Boys at Oaks Lane Methodist church and then the cubs/scouts at St.Peter's-1st Aldborough Hatch. One of the extra pleasures of my involvement with the Torbitt reunion follow-up is making contact with former neighbours, playmates and associates from those other organisations.
